FAQs
AuraGrid Wireless Extension System - Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Does AuraGrid work with Cable TV?
A1: Yes, AuraGrid can be used to extend and distribute both Cable TV and Wireless Access simultaneously without any conflict.
Q2: Can I attach my Cable Internet directly into the AuraGrid CATV Duplexer?
A2: Yes, AuraGrid can be used to extend and distribute both Cable Internet and Wireless Access simultaneously without any conflict.
Q3: Can I connect Satellite TV directly into the AuraGrid CATV Duplexer?
A3: No, the AuraGrid CATV Duplexer will only work with Cable TV and Cable Internet Services. However, due to the frequency satellite signals require, most satellite TV installers will not use your existing coax infrastructure. Therefore, in most cases, you can still use your existing coaxial wiring as a wireless extender with AuraGrid.
Q4: Can I use AuraGrid with MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) based wireless routers/access points?
A4: Due to the nature of MIMO technology, the AuraGrid cannot be used with MIMO based wireless routers/access points.
Q5: Can I use AuraGrid with IEEE 802.11a based wireless products?
A5: No, AuraGrid is ONLY compatible with IEEE802.11b/g and super G 2.4GHz based wireless standards.
Q6: How do I connect AuraGrid to Wireless Access points and Wireless Routers that have 2 antennas such as the Linksys WRT54G?
A6: AuraGrid will work with any IEEE802.11b/g or Atheros-based Super G Wireless Router/Access point that has 2 antennas, all you have to do is to locate the "Primary" antenna and connect that to the AuraGrid. The "Primary" antenna is typically on the right-hand side if you are looking at the back of the wireless Access Point / Router.
Q7: I have the AuraGrid installed, why am I not getting better signals with my wireless devices?
A7: Please check the following:
- When installing the AuraGrid Wireless Extension kit, make sure that the coaxial cable used between the AuraGrid 4-Port Duplexer and the AuraGrid Remote Antenna is in good condition. Damaged coax cable will decrease the effectiveness of AuraGrid.
- Please make sure there are no additional splitters or duplexers used between the AuraGrid 4-Port Duplexer and the AuraGrid Remote Antenna as they will prevent the RF signal from being distributed properly throughout the installation.
- Please make sure the coaxial cable between the AuraGrid 4-Port Duplexer and AuraGrid Remote Antenna is less than 70 m (231 ft.)
Q8: I have a wireless router that does not have a removable antenna. Can I still use AuraGrid?
A8: Currently, AuraGrid can only be used with Wireless Router/Access points that have removable antennas.
Q9: I have an Apple Airport Extreme with an external antenna port, can I use AuraGrid?
A9: AuraGrid can be connected to an Apple Airport Extreme with an external antenna port using a Male MCX to Male SMA adapter
